lakəˈdeɪzɪk(ə)l/ : adjective
lacking enthusiasm and determination; carelessly lazy.
Today, I chanced upon this word. I only guessed that its the "negative side" of the pretty sound words like whimsical. My vocabulary bank was never that great to begin with.. and apparently (as my BForeva highlighted) has deteriorated since professionally engaged in a manually labourious job instead... Hah.
Remember "silent reading" sessions in the school hall? What did u read? I read fictional books of course, to escape. Omg, this is embarrassing but i actually had read Sidney Sheldonsss. lol. Oh well.. raging teenage hormones :P My late bro-in-law (its his birthday today - may your soul be blessed. Insya -Allah. and everyone of us sure miss miss miss having u around), he subscribed to Reader's Digest and there were all sorts novels that comes with it. One particular novel was about a slave family in that White Americans & Black Slaves era. Fortunately for them, they lived with a kind White family who had given the slave mum their only book in the house, a Dictionary. Mum then strived to educate her children using that only one book. Every morning, one family member gets to pick a word and every dinner, each of them will use the word to describe their day, feelings & thoughts, including Mum & Dad. Sorry cant remember the title..a heartwarming book that has since led me to dream of upbringing values in my very own family and educating a child.
Ok today's blog topic: Education.☺️
Education, the one interest I know I am truly quite passionate about but many a times, i wished I never was in that "the real truth" of moulding the future system.. I wished
I've never met that particular privileged group of friends whom with all the privileges (i really believed its due to that) had managed to easily get into our local uni..or get sent to prestigious overseas universities.. I wished I've not met those from the "branded" local schools or witnessed their "branded" school culture.. i wished I didn't know about any "donation" drive for these schools.. I wished I had stick to the thoughts that those who went to JC or took their As are smart.. Worst of all ... I wished I could sincerely congratulate the child (and parents) for getting superb O, A or even uni level results...heh. Yes, I've became quite cynical about education over the years..and so, I had since wish for ignorance. :)
But of course, since it's a passion .. I can't help but still read a bit.. Randomly click on articles, on tips to make learning fun...teaching the right values and characteristics ... maximising potential of a child.. and one day, random reads & clicks led me to the ultimate "educating track" that has since spark new lights and made me forget abt my cynicism!
The Right-brain trainings.... Ive asked many mummies & daddies about it and they seemed to hearsay hearsay about it only.. not many did it..(yaw.. my mummies & daddies are not only malay ones ok :P) hah. Some did but discontinued.. Time is always the issue, money too! apparently its sooooooo expensive! I guess I have no place or has no right to comment on this issue that much.... coz I dun hev the "experiment subject" yet. hah. Whatever it is, the more I read abt the right-brain trainings.. Watch videos on it.. Learn about the big stars and their beliefs in their teachings like #glenndoman #shichida #heguru etc etc etc...I got excited about education all over again!
Now, coming back to my new word - Lackadaisical.
I hope to not be lackadaisical on this passion so i am going to take time to share what i am truly intrigued with..maybe those with the experimental subjects aka parents can give the reality of the wishful and infeasible aspects on doing these trainings on their own..especially in our hectic SG environments. And may i, one fine day, be superbly motivated enough to get trained to teach in a Right-brain training school.
As for now, I am stepping into a new career adventure and so will vowed to eliminate all traces of lackadaisical attitude towards my success. Wootssss....#ifandwhenHepermits.
Will & Shall always end a post with my one habit : googling-on-Quotes!
